Salaam Sigri Rolls & Kebabs

Bangalore is an ever changing city. It’s an urban jungle with concrete towers replacing the green trees. One day you see one building, another day you will see something else in its place. In this bustling city, we have global cultures and cuisines from across the globe.

In my quest to find and experience different cuisines, dishes, flavors from beyond my imaginations, I found this Indian grill specialist. Salaam Sigri, home for several rolls, kebabs and grilled savories. A small and comfy outlet on a busy corner of an ever growing city has made it to my list of find. I found this outlet of Salaam Sigri on New BEL Road, very much opposite to the MS Ramaiah Medical College.

I parked my bike and went following the aroma of fresh grill food. Stepped into a small outlet, without looking either sides I went straight to the counter and order for Jumbo Mutton Sheek roll and a veg platter for my friend who is not very fond of grilled food. The order was simple and short for 2 of us. We took our own sweet time to relax on the low height slouchy bamboo chairs and waited peacefully for our order. In the meantime, we started looking around on the walls we found elegant food photographs and some of the dishes that they serve. On the busy street outside, people walking by, cars and super bikes going by. Just when I was turning impatient of having to wait for 10 whole minutes, I was called to collect our order.

And then the food journey began! Mutton Sheek Roll was filled with delicious stuffing with dripping masala. It was different from what I had tried before in other restaurants. There was generous amount of mutton chunks in it, masala had a different flavor. Tangy of sorts, which at first was weird but I liked it half way through the roll. After having my order, I took a small piece of grilled paneer from my friend’s plate. And boy was I in for a pleasant surprise!

I wasn’t expecting the grilled paneer to be so good! The exterior of the paneer cubes were well grilled, which gave a decent flavor to the paneer. Baby corn, small potatoes (they should be named cherry potatoes!), mushrooms and baby corns were equally good and tasted great with the grill flavor. While munching through my food I was already thinking and making a list in my mind to have the next time I visit this place, Salaam Sigri.
