  1. Make a thick paste of the poppy seed for the Aloo posto recipe
  2. Then, dice the potatoes into cubes and keep it aside & chop the onion
  3. Heat about 2 tsp of refined oil (or mustard oil)
  4. To it add the chopped onions
  5. When the onion turn translucent then add the diced potatoes and fry it a little
  6. Now, into it add the thick paste of the poppy seed (posto in bengali) and mix well
  7. Add salt to taste and chilly powder (optional)
  8. Add few green chilies if you like spicy food
  9. Now, cover it and let it cook for 2-3 minutes
  10. Then, add water (depending on the consistency you prefer)
  11. Again cover it and allow the potatoes to get cooked completely
  12. Serve hot with Steam rice
